8 Picas

Today has been a choppy kind of day. It feels like an 8 picas kind of day. Yes, this is my attempt to typographic nerd humor. Yes, today was one of those days that you can only work in small chunks because there are many appointments in between things. However, I have managed to do a bit today. Never as much as I want to get done but close enough.

One of the highlights of the day was that Matt, Diane, and I went to visit a local letterpress studio. It is a very tiny studio but very cute and cozy. I was fascinated by the three presses he had in the room, the cabinets of metal and wood type, all the knacks, and the beautiful letterpress work he showed us. The three of us were in type and print heaven and we enjoyed it. I took some photos. See below.

I am grateful because we were able to meet the letterpress studio’s owner, Paul. He was very upbeat about type and letterpress and very enthusiastic about us being there.

I am grateful because I was able to do most things in my to-do list. Though I feel like I never really get anything off my list. Working on that one.

I am grateful because the excitement and the enthusiasm about the activity this coming Thursday is growing. I am very excited and nervous at the same time. Here is the poster I designed for it:
