Hello reader!

As promised last week, this is the newsletter in a new format and from a new service. It is a Wordpress plugin called MailPoet. It allows me to compose these messages from within my site on Wordpress instead of having to use a separate service like TinyLetter.

Please let me know if you like it better! I hope so! But if not, I would love to hear your feedback!

So, last week I sent you a challenge. If any of you guessed what was the background of the wallpaper, I would send you a freebie. To help you remember, here is the image again.

The winner of the challenge

Well, only one person emailed me back right away with a guess. It was not the right answer but being that she was the only person who tried to guess, she gets a freebie! Becky Toly, congratulations my friend, I will be sending you a freebie next week! And for those of you who want to know, hmmm… I am wondering if I should tell you? Give me a moment…

The image is from a glass of wine, Pinot Grigio in case you are wondering. I took the photo when we were visiting Tyson's parents in North Carolina. We went to a dinner/theater performance. The glass was foggy with an interesting mistiness in it. I snapped the photo fairly close to the glass and ran a filter. Becky had a very interesting and clever idea of what this was. She asked if the image was from an egg's yolk being that the theme was Take It Easy. Good one!

Updates

New store
Last week, I also told you I would have my artworks up and ready to go on the new online store. And sometimes life throws some curve balls at you, right? Between the city swim meet, which is two days, and prepping my artworks for the upcoming show, I had barely time to set up much. I did manage to get one thing! Hey, don't judge! One thing is better than no-thing! Right, right, right? Take a look and you know what? Order a sticker! Or a bag or a t-shirt? Yeah?
Show at Optera
I have been working on reframing the art pieces I will be displaying at Optera Creative. Here are some photos of the new frames I got for the pieces and Tyson putting them together for me:

At the show, I will be exhibiting 12 pieces total. Six of them are from the Incomplete Memory series. These are oversized pieces (2' x 5') each, mixed media on either watercolor or mixed media paper. The other six are a mix between pieces from the Visual Prayer series and other pieces I did before the hand surgery. We will be setting up on Monday morning and hopefully it will not take us too long.

Don't forget to join me during the artist's reception! Here are the details:
When: Friday August 11, 2017

Always learning
So, what did I learn this week? I am glad you asked. Sometime during this week I found myself asking why I do the things I do. Why do I work instead of being a stay home mom? Why do I teach? Why do I write? Why do I create? This is perhaps the one question that always stops me in my tracks. Because though I know it is a choice, I feel, to a certain degree, compelled to create. I was looking at stuff on Instagram, as one does, and there was this quote by Mark Twain:

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

It got me thinking about where I am at and where I want to go, and of course why. And I don't have a solution type of answer. But allow me to share this with you. The one thing I think about when I create, and gets me out of bed even when things get hard, is the certainty that Jesus has resurrected from the dead. That death has nothing on Him. And by extension, on me. I am not saying I will not die ever. I am saying that becuase He resurrected, I have hope and my life does not end here. That is my why. Because the resurrection makes it all worth it.

For some of you this answer may be insulting, for others it may be naive, and for others it will be a reason for joy. Some of you may leave the newsletter. I understand. But I made a promise to be truthful in these letters. I hope those of you who disagree are tolerant of my beliefs and continue to suppot me in my journey to fulfill my dream.

Ask yourself, what is your why? Even send me an email sharing. I will answer. And because I love freebies, here is your link to this week's wallpaper (only in the most common sizes this week. It has been a crazy one!)
And with that, I wish you a great weekend and a fabulous week ahead! Until then my friends!
